We have curated an all-new lineup in our Shiraz mixed case. Five of these newly selected wines are winners of the 2024 Shiraz SA Challenge.
On 15 August 2024, Shiraz SA revealed the winners of the Shiraz SA Challenge, with six vintages from various wine regions of the South African winelands performing excellently.
Sixteen winners were named in the three categories of the Shiraz SA Challenge: The Top 12 Shiraz, Top 3 Shiraz Blends, and Shiraz Rosé.
We selected five of our favourites from the Top 12 Shiraz list to add to the newest edition of our Taste of Shiraz mixed case of wines. They include The Pepper Tree Shiraz 2022 from the Robertson region; The Winemasters Shiraz from Nederburg that's all the rave this year; Saronsberg's Provenance Shiraz from Tulbagh; Survivor Syrah 2022 by Overhex Wines, Worcester; and the 2022 Shiraz from Spier's popular Seaward range.
Taste of Shiraz Mixed Case
Saronsberg Provenance Shiraz 2022
The Saronsberg Provenance Shiraz 2022 has soft, textured tannins, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a silken finish. These lend themselves as a platform for a heady mix of red berry and black fruit flavours combined with floral notes and fynbos nuances.
Nederburg The Winemasters Shiraz 2022
Seductive in its charms, The Winemasters Shiraz 2022 is simultaneously bright with black berry fruit, pepper and spice, and subtle and delicate with a touch of florality. Supportive oak is well-judged, integrated, and harmonious.
Survivor Syrah 2022
This Syrah greets you with a rich, deep red colour and an aromatic symphony of cracked black peppercorns, coriander, plums, and bramble berries, all beautifully accented by liquorice and oak spice hints. Each sip unveils a full-bodied, velvety texture that lingers on the palate, leaving you with a delightful finish of fynbos and pomegranates.
Spier Seaward Shiraz 2022
The tall, dark, and handsome Spier Seaward Shiraz 2022 is made with grapes handpicked in the Cape Coastal region. It offers an enticingly intense mix of mulberry, violet, and pepper flavours.
Bon Courage The Pepper Tree Shiraz 2022
The full-bodied Bon Courage The Pepper Tree Shiraz 2022 has a bouquet of tremendously ripe fruit, reminiscent of spicy plum jam. Ripe, sweet-fruited nose with loads of berry fruit, pepper, and vanilla with subtle hints of karoobos. A full rounded mouth adds plum to all that the nose suggested.
Darling Cellars Reserve Black Granite Shiraz 2022
This is a remarkable Shiraz with an expressive nose and great complexity. Fruits such as pomegranate, strawberries, vanilla, white pepper, bright red fruit together with a hint of smokiness will meet you on the nose. A medium bodied wine with plush structure and fruit following on to your palate with a lingering aftertaste.
